PREVALENCE OF HYPOTHYROIDISM IN PATIENTS WITH HYPONATREMIA

This study evaluated the prevalence of hypothyroidism in hyponatremic patients varying severity. prospective cross-sectional was conducted at Medicine department Bakhtawar Amin Trust Hospital Multan from 19th March 2020 to 2021. registry data assessed patient's serum sodium, free thyroxine, and thyrotropin level. The study's primary outcome T4 < 1.01 ng/dL TSH > 10.0 μIU/mL. A total 243 qualified criteria. Of them, 20 (8.2%) had overt hypothyroidism, 50 (20.5%) hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism categorized terms Na levels such that six (12%) >136mEq/L, 16 (32%) Na=130-135mEq/L, 28(56%) 129mEq/L. number with similar groups two (10%), eight (45%), 10 (50%), respectively. rate increased significantly an increase severity hyponatremia (p<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis on adjusting confounding factors revealed Based results, increases hyponatremia. trend remains same even after adjustment potential confounders.
